Meet our Trustee, Angela
How did you come to be involved in the foundation?
I’ve been friends with Jodie for a number and years and had developed a close and trusting relationship. We share many of the same values and both had a common interest in supporting the local community. Having previously done some charity and volunteering work, I was over the moon when Jodie invited me to join The Moulding Foundation.
The mission of the foundation is ‘to enable disadvantaged people and communities to achieve their full potential’. What does this mean to you?
I fundamentally agree that everyone should have the same opportunities in life but know that this unfortunately is not the case. Being able to help change this is nothing short of incredible and something I am so proud to be involved in.
How would you describe your role as a trustee?
To be open minded and really listen to what is necessary in helping to maximise our ability as a foundation to effect lasting changes to people’s lives.
What has been your highlight so far?
Visiting ‘New Bridge Horizon’ was a real heart-warming experience. We had donated money for them to have a fully adapted kitchen for the students and staff. On our visit we witnessed the students making biscuits and using it first hand, something that wasn’t possible before. To see the happiness that it brought to both staff and students was pretty emotional.
Any words of wisdom for those thinking about making an application to the foundation?
Tell us your story and be honest about what it is you want to achieve.
What are your ambitions for the foundation?
To have a long-lasting impact on people’s lives and grow stronger as a foundation so we can help as many causes as possible in the future.
If you could give one piece of advice to someone thinking of becoming a trustee for a charity, what would it be?
I would say, go for it. It can be challenging but incredibly rewarding. Take your time learning all the do’s and don’ts but don’t let is dissuade you.
